December 28th, 2015

We slept... very soundly, but awoke early, and decided to visit the volcanic plug area to the southeast of Christchurch, which terminates
in Akaroa. I was a little unclear about how distant it was, however, as we ended up having to turn back so as not to miss our
checkout time. Still, the hills were very pretty and we saw some black swans. Once we returned and checked out, we ate breakfast
at Speight's Ale House, which despite the name, had a very pleasant breakfast selection.

From there we started our long journey to Greymouth, heading through Arthur's Pass and the region we'd visited on our last trip. Traffic
was heavy, but we made reasonable time and arrived in Greymouth around 1 pm. After checking into our new accomodations, we headed north
to the Pararoa National Park, where we saw the stacked limestone formations it's famous for, and continued north towards Westport, where
we stopped at Cape Foulwind and saw the seal colony there. The seals were numerous and rather active, and we got to see several pups, some
horsing around, and other general seal-type activities. We finished our northern-wards trip at Westport, where we picked up some refreshments,
and then headed back. By the time we arrived back in Greymouth, it was already rather late. We stopped by a nice dinner place called
Buccleugh's on High where we had a pleasant meal, before retiring to our rooms to plan the next day of our trip, and consume the last half
of our bottle of wine.
