Richard and I met up for a week-long vacation to explore western Colorado (and a little bit of Utah)  We landed in Grand Junction, and, since we have the afternoon still available, 
went out hiking on Rabbit Ear Mesa, about 15 miles outside of town.  We finished up our hike right as the sun was going down (and a bit after the water had run out.)
