Southwestern Colorado (July 2020)

We had arrived late the previous day, and checked into the general Palmer hotel in Durango. We woke mid-morning, and headed north towards Silverton. I had originally proposed a different hike, but reconsidered it on our way due to the elevation gain, and we decided to do a somewhat flatter hike near the ski town of purgatory. The trail was actually quite busy, and lead down to the upper animas river. Unfortunately, it was also heavily frequented by the local mosquitos, who bit us up pretty badly.

We returned from the hike, and headed north into silverton, just as rain blew in. We stopped there at the golden block brewery, and had lunch and a few drinks. After that, we headed back to Durango and took an afternoon nap, before a pleasant evening dinner.
