DAY 3

We awoke early for a glacier hike, only to discover that the bus outside which was waiting for "4 for the glacier
hike" apparently wasn't actually our bus... After getting on the right bus, it was a two hour drive into the south,
where we donned crampons and climbed Mýrdalsjökull. After hiking around on the glacier, we tried some ice climbing,
only to discover that soft boots were not really useful for stabbing into the ice wall. We got some profoundly
stubbed toes, but Dave made it the farthest up of any of the four of us.

Heading back, we learned private property in Iceland extends only to the first 500 meters of a glacier on your
property, and that a local sheep herder regularly drove his flock across the glacier. We returned around 7 pm at
"night" and had a nice dinner (Salted cod, in my case) before retiring relatively early, as it was Sunday and the
bars were empty or closed.
