Western Nevada / NE California Trip (June 2020)
We had planned our excursion to Black Rock Desert for some time, as I'd read you could do rockhounding there (and borrowed a pick from a geologist at my workplace for the occasion) It was some drive out to our trailhead, but we hiked first in the southern Calico Mountains, then headed north to Petrified Canyon, where we did eventually find some petrified wood, thanks to Richard's sharp eyes. Afterwards, we took a drive across the playa, and eventually hit the Trejo Hot Springs before returning to Reno.
