I awoke at 7 am in the morning, and discovered I was indeed allergic to something in the area. Most notably, my eyes itched. However, when I attempted to insert my contacts, my eyes burnt like I'd stuck hot pokers in them. Apparently, whatever allergenic particles made my eyes itch were 100x worse when held against them by contacts. Doning glasses, I took in a continential breakfast, and we drove up to the Grand Tetons park to take a look around. My mother's luggage had still not arrived, and the airport informed us that it would be in around 1 pm, so hiking options were limited. However, we did take in a great deal of the scenery from the car, and returned for lunch and shopping, before setting off on Route 22, which was one of the few routes over the Tetons. It was an excellent ride, with exquisite scenery, although our little rental Sebring strained to make it up the 10% grade. On the other side of the mountains, we ventured into Victor, Idaho briefly before returning. Once back in town, we called the airport (It was now well past 1 pm) where they said they had the luggage, but it would be another 3 hours before they could deliver it. We opted to go pick it up ourselves instead, and did so, returning in time to eat at a local italian restraunt. The food was good, although I'm not wonderfully fond of Italian, and while light still lasted (It was light until 9 pm here) we ventured back to the Grand Tetons, arriving with roughly an hour of sunlight left. In twilight, many of the park's animals came out, including antelope, deer, grouse, and chipmunks. The animals seemed relatively unafraid of humans and could be approached rather closely. Our hike was pretty short, owing to sunlight, although we hiked roughly 2 miles around Lake Jenny, which was quite placid (Although numbingly cold) and scenic. Returning to our vehicle, we headed back, hoping to see some Elk, but none were visible.
