December 30th, 2015

We awoke and drove south to Hotitika, once more crossing over the single lane bridge which included a railroad track as well. Hotitika was only about 30 km
to the south, so we headed into town and did some shopping, procuring two glass kiwi as mementos for the trip. After that, we headed out on the Blue
Spur scenic drive, where we stopped by the Blue Spur Bush Trail. Jen wasn't feeling up to the hike, so I proceeded alone. Although rated "moderate"
it was pretty strenuous, and involved hiking through the hills that were filled with old mining shafts and tunnels. At one point, the trail led through
a 10' trench that wasn't wide enough for my shoulders. I finished the walk and returned to Jen, and we resumed the scenic drive, finishing that and heading
to Fat Pipi's pizza for lunch, which was really good.

From there, we headed down to Hotitika Gorge, which was a famous scenic overlook over a swing bridge. The water was exceptionally blue, and we made it
across the bridge and back without incident. We headed back to Greymouth relatively early and ate leftovers (there was surplus pizza0 and stayed up
reading. Unfortunately, the other neighbors decided to smoke right outside the windows, which were necessarily open because the unit had no AC and was hot,
so we ended up being a while getting to sleep.
