Day 6 - Wellington

We got to sleep in on this day, as our drive was short and there were no scheduled events, so we woke up around 8 am for a 10 am departure. The trip over was
rather long as traffic was quite heavy. On our way in we passed the bird sanctuary named Owlcatraz, and came upon a "Clearway" which apparently consisted of
a second lane which could be parked in while the clearway was inactive.

Wellington was extremely windy and a little cold (as a cold front had come through late the day before.) We checked
into our hotel after noon, and ran into our first serious twist: apparently, the rental company forbid taking your car across the ferry, you were supposed to
drop it off, take just yourself and your luggage, and pick up another vehicle on the other side. However, they wanted 48 hours in advance notice (which we
didn't have) and the south island location was apparently completely out of vehicles at all. They relented, at last, and told us we could take the rental SUV
to the south island on the ferry as long as we were returning it to Auckland.

That debacle aside, we headed to the national museum, which was just across the street. It was a very modern (but somewhat dark) museum that we only got to see
part of due to practical time constraints. One thing I did learn was regarding the Norsewood and Donnevirk towns we'd gone through, which appeared to be strongly
norse themed, New Zealand apparently recruited from the Scandanavian countries to clear the forest near there, and they settled in the area. We returned from
that to go to the supermarket to buy dinner, as we had a full kitchen in our apartment.
