Jen's Account of the Day

I'm 33! And there's an eclipse or something, I guess. Matt decided to head out to a park near the town of Corvallis. Since they day's activities involved staring at the sun, we stopped at a grocery store along the way to pick up some new sunglasses for Matt. I didn't realize until later they had little skulls on the sides. Awesome.

We didn't make it to the park Matt picked out but parked at the county fairground instead, which worked out nicely. The eclipse was really neat. There will be another one in 2024, so I guess we have that to look forward to.

Travel up to this point had been pretty painless, but now that the party was over everyone and their mom was trying to get to Portland. It took us over three hours...and we got hit. In a rental car. Again. Fortunately, the damage was minor, but my neck was a little sore. We (finally) made it to Portland and settled into our hotel.

Matt had made reservations at a seafood restaurant in the middle of Portland's city park. The food was delicious, and it had a spectacular view of Mts. St Helens and Ranier. It was a great end to a great trip.
