Franz Josef glacier itself was our first trip of the day, and we headed out early while the valley was still wrapped in fog. The river actually prevented one approach, 
being swollen with the overnight rains, but eventually we made our way to the glacier observation area at the foot of the glacier. Most of the tourists streamed along the
trail in the opposite direction as we returned, so our timing was apparently ideal.  Sandflies were prevalent along the trail, although we only got minor bites. After
we got back, we made a short trip to Peter's Pool, and old kettle lake (well, pond) which had some interesting wildlife around it.

Returning to town, we recalled we'd seen several impressive trail bridges with no one on them on the other side of the glacier valley. Nick looked into seeing what trail
that was attached to, and discovered it was the Robert's Point trail. We drove down to what we thought was the trail head, but turned out to be an abandoned service road.
Turning back, we decided to hike the other fork of the tunnel track from yesterday, which went to Calley Gorge. The trail was in good shape, but rather winding up and down
the hills. Calley Gorge had a swing bridge across it, and the view was nice... I was somewhat underwhelmed, however, the if we had simply walked by the river instead of
taking the trail, we probably could have reached it in an easy 15 minutes.

We returned to town, having walked over 10 miles total that morning, and showered and relaxed. We enjoyed a nice, if late, lunch at an Indian fusion restaurant next door,
and headed back to take a nap. Nick, in the mean time, went over for his delayed massage, which he said was quite pleasant. Back at the room, the sun came out and it became
sweltering, even with the blackout curtains pulled. We took it easy the rest of the evening, losing track of time watching the Dart tournament on TV, as well as various
other activities, such as reading and painting.
