January 2nd, 2016
We woke after a good night's sleep to find it had drizzled somewhat, but the rain wasn't sufficient to cancel our morning activity, which was quad biking. We went down
to the location in town, and after trying out the bikes on a test course, Jen ended up riding with me, as the thumb throttle bothered her earlier carpal tunnel injury.
The ride was... pretty intense, the track was extremely rutted and bumby. We went into the forest, and along the river bank, eventually fording some of the small streams.
After the bike ride, we headed up towards the old mining tunnels above town. There was a long shaft there, but it had several inches of running water in it, so I didn't
investigate too far. Nick would later return with his dive boots, and discover the tunnel had some glow-worms, as well as actually went through to the other side of the
hill.
That afternoon, Jen and I went to our private pool that we had reserved in the local Hot Springs, and had a nice soak. Nick had thought he had reserves a massage about
the same time, but it turned out he had booked it for the 3rd. We ate dinner at the Landing, a local bar, which was pretty decent, and retired for the night.
