After breakfast at the Good Harvest Café (hippy name, good food) we continued up 101 into Oregon. On the way to Grant's Pass, our next night's stop, there was a detour to Oregon Caves National Monument, which was a nice cold marble cave up in the mountains.
The Morning in Crescent City was cold and foggy, but it was pushing 90 by the time we got to the caves. Fires have been burning nearby and it was quite smoky—enough to burn the eyes but not really cough. A shame, really, it looked like the park had some good hiking trails in addition to the main attraction. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long for a tour.
The cave, of course, had lots of steps which messed up my knee a bit, but it was a very nice cave and I really enjoyed the tour. By the time we rolled into Grant's Pass I was tired and hungry...it was nearly 3. Since we were in the awkward linner period not a lot of places were open. A wine bar was, however, so we decided to visit them instead of heading out to one of the (many) local wineries. Matt had a flight of Oregon white wines and a cider (and some food, I guess) and I had a flight of Pinot Noirs (also all from Oregon, I think) and another glass of white. The food was good, too.
After our late lunch we staggered back (which was fun while we were drunk and it was nearly 100 degrees) to our hotel to relax. It was nearly 5 when we got back. We had a late dinner at a sushi place near our hotel. The party that got in before us ordered a ton of food, so it took forever.
